As you can deduce from the post title, I have been working on a new website for our domain for about a week now.
I intend to create a place where the general information about the project is stored and can be reached easily. It will be simple in design (I'm not using a website builder or anything like that) and have direct links to the most relevant information like Girls' bios, the blog, etc.
We will of course still use this blog as our main tool for communication when it comes to updates.
The website is still under construction, obviously, but I intend to have it soon, no later than mid-October (if everything goes right of course).

As you can see, it is the 15th and no new webpage. We received some feedback on the design of the webpage (thank you very much anons) and we have decided to re-do it. For now though, we are going to focus on our demo and once we got that done, we'll work on the site.
We are still working on our demo. We are working on editing what we got so far so we can assure we deliver the same feeling for the demo across each writing and give it a consistent style.
Our artist, Kiwi, is still working on the assets we are going to use for said demo.
If everything proceeds steadily, we expect to have this demo when it's ready.

While a website will go a little ways in making you more professional, what can it do that your blog right now can't? If you organized things here a little better, I don't really see the need for one. Your choice though, making a website is a good idea, as long as it does something that the blog doesn't. Also, I like the idea of basing focusing the site's design on Marin itself, but please use something better than a blurry, hastily-upscaled photo for the background.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, it is true that creating a website will not further content per se; but rather it is an excellent step towards, as you yourself stated, professionalism. It is a sad fact of life, but popularity is not decided by the level of content alone. A large part, a majority in my opinion, of any game's popularity comes from it's marketing. This is particularly important for new developers as they have no existing reputation or fan base. The creation of a legitimate website which can clearly and concisely express the key concepts and appeals of the game facilitates its publicization.
DeleteIn all honesty, what compelled my to write this is that I've seen quite a few releases of good games, especially in the more obscure genres, go unnoticed. I hope that by stressing the need for marketing (such that it is) I can bring some of the more unknown titles to the fore. I sincerely hope that you don't take my comment as be bashing you personally. You raise several important points, the biggest of which I would like to reiterate. A sloppily made website is worse than no website at all. The website should be a reflection of the optimal state of the game.
Thank you for your comment anon. While we do like our blog, we think it is not very professional to use it as our main page for our project. The new website is supposed to deliver the content that people interested in the project are looking for in a simple yet effective design. You wanna know more about the setting? Click about. You wanna know more about the girls? Click girls. You wanna listen to some BGMs or look at some art? Click media.
DeleteIt is not intended to act like our blog. As I mentioned, the blog will still be the main source of information for updates and news. The website will be our official "front page" if you want to call it. It will also host the downloads whenever we finish our downloadable content.
As for the background. We are still working on the website and it's design. We thank you very much for your feedback.
