Amelia Edition

Hey there, anyone, I'm the Outlander, one of the writers for Amare in Bellum. Originally, I just provided feedback on their forums as an outsider - hence the name Outlander - and soon found myself becoming a full member of the team. So which character did I hook up with? An adorable girl that goes by the name of Amelia Vahn.


Amelia was an old friend of Vincent's, but she moved away several years ago, fading out of Vincent's memory. She turns up in his life again at Marin, seeking refuge from the war, giving them the chance to rekindle their friendship. She's one of the happier residents of the town; always willing to lend a hand, or strike up a conversation, and never without her trusty camera ready to take a snapshot. Amelia chooses to ignore the war, disallowing it to be a part of her life. Her life is here, in the town, with the people.


I'm not big on cameras, but I think I got the best girl to write about; just looking at her artwork fills my head with ideas, it has gotten to a point where I spend more time writing for fun than I do playing video games. Very tragic, but I love it.




As for overall team progression: the writers are starting to create some scenarios for Act 1 and our code monkey, Fideon, is working on another build of the introduction with some assets to play around with. That's all for now, catch ya later.

Clarification Edition

It's been brought to our attention that the character design for Sybil resembles that of a character from "Love Despite," due to their both having head bandages. While it's beyond unreasonable to believe that LD therefore has trademark over such a trait, we'd like to take a moment to clear up any misconceptions that may be had about the origin of Sybil's look. Since LD is a fairly popular work in progress within such a small community, it's hard to not be somewhat aware of what they're doing. That said, Sybil's own look was designed around her own character and story, not an attempt at emulation, and any coincidental similarity is just that. At no point have we ever intentionally "ripped off" another work's character design. Thank you for bringing the coincidence to our attention all the same. -Raith

Sybil Edition

Greetings and salutations, my curious friends. I am the fabled Syon. I'm one of the writers working on our project, Amare in Bellum. My job is to write a route for one of the girls. In fact, the reason I'm here is so I can introduce the girl whose route I'm writing. So it is my pleasure to introduce to you, the three people reading this blog, Sybil Dastun!


Sybil is a refugee from the country of Rhen-Palait. Her deadpan demeanour and blunt statements distinguish her from the crowd along with her ever-present bandages that cover her head and her nasty smoking habit. She has become infamous among the residents of Marin as a class A moocher; lingering around shops and bothering people for food, refusing to take up any kind of work.


As you can see, we have some concept art (and a comic made by our wonderful artist Kiwi) drawn by WaffleBunny and Kiwi. Enjoy.


This is all we can show you right now, but rest assured, there will be more to present in the future.

Logo Edition

So something we've briefly thought about over the last week or so was what kind of logo should we have. After all, a logo serves as the face for any project, it needs to be memorable and capture the spirit of the project. With that being said, our very own Material Tire produced something for us that I felt we should share for those who keep up with our blog (the dev team and 2 other people)

Fun fact: this wouldn't come up in Irfanview

Pretty cool stuff, I'm certainly fond of it. This is a placeholder right now until we begin pumping out more assets for Amare in Bellum, but for now this is gets across that nitty gritty military vibe, and 'Amare' is pretty looking. It's memorable in a 60s way in my opinion.

In other news, Fideon has a revised draft for the introduction, so he can begin working his voodoo on whatever it is coders do to words nowadays..

Votation Edition

Today the votation for "Introduction we are gonna be using as final release candidate or that we are gonna use for now and butcher and edit and use it as intro" took place.

After every team member vote was submitted in a completely democratic way that even the most first world of the first world countries would be jealous of, the results were obtained.

The winning draft was OUTLANDER'S

We will now proceed to edit, cut, write, paste the intro.

So yeah, basically. PROGRESS.

We are already working on it and can't wait to finish our first whole intro build!

Valentine Edition

Happy Valentine's Day everybody!


Today is a special day for the lovers and friends. And a special day for Edition Development Team as well because we are all friends here (aww)

We would like to present you with an update of our General progress and with information about our project VN "Amare in Bellum"


We have written around 5 different intros. We are currently standing by for one more and we will be voting and analyzing which one should we use as a base to begin modifying so we can use it as our definitive (for now) intro. We hope we have the intro chosen this weekend.


The town in which the story will take place is called "Marin"

A resort town which hotels and installations are now being used to foster the refugees from war. The town didn't had a lot of tourists because of the war so the government decided to give it some use.
The refugees do manual labor and are paid so they can buy new clothes, food or any other kind of goods for their residences.


As soon as the intro has been decided we will work on Backgrounds and BGM for it. We expect to have the first build with a "presentable" intro somewhere around early March. We'll let everyone know when we have reached this important milestone. In the meanwhile most of our writers are already discussing the flow of Act 1 and the setting.


Our artist Kiwi was going to do some art to commemorate this event but unfortunately she's sick. We support her completely and wish that she gets well soon!

MASTER PLAN edition

In the past we have had a number of legendary challenges to fight (like shaving our neckbeards), but nothing ever of this magnitude...

A few of our team, namely Fideon, Kiwi, and Outlander, teamed up together to conquer the land of Board Game Online.

We prepared. Our Master Plan: Ready. The room had been created and the enemies were awaiting.


We joined the battle...

Barbarian and Merchant Fideon. Creator of the Master Plan which originally, was to throw as much stuff as possible to Kiwi. Later on the details of the master plan were hidden, but there's still enough evidence to prove the same tactic is used.

Seductress Saboteur and Epic Priestess Kiwi. Reviving and RUNNING TO THE GOAL.

Sick Incubbus Swells. Had sex with Santa Claus and got to the goal first.


The goal was close, one of the enemies had left the match leaving us against 2 of them. They were both really close. If they made it to the goal it was GAYMU OUVER.

Finally, Kiwi and Fideon make it to the goal. Celebration. MASTER PLAN MASTER PLAN was screamed at the top of their lungs. but then... KIWI DED.

The game has a survival mode and all players must be alive to win the game. The rooting had made one of the 2 remaining players to leave thinking he had lost. One last enemy remained. 6 steps from the goal.

Fideon and Outlander already past the goal rip their eyes out as Kiwi is at the goal but won't revive. The enemy rolls. 4!! IT'S A 4 WAHAHAHAHA~ MASTER PLAN!!

Then the enemy did the unexpected. A CATAPULT. The enemy catapulted himself to the goal!

"NO" was heard "MUH MASTER PLAN" Nevertheless the enemy ded during the landing

Then Fideon took his wildcard "it's over" "it's all part of the MASTER PLAN".

FIDEON WENT TO THE MAGIC SHOP, CHARGED HIS WAND WITH REVIVE. KIWI ALIVE.

ANOTHER VICTORY CLAIMED FOR EDITION DEVELOPMENT TEAM!!

Anniversary edition: we are one month old! (+2 days)



The title says it all, it’s been 33 days since a bunch of anonymous users from 4chan’s second most despised general decided it’d be a good idea to give creating a VN another try, and for just existing for a month, we’ve got decent progress.
The genre is set, we’re writing a bishoujo, no surprises here.
The setting is set; it’s during a war between the fictional countries of Rhen-Palait and Baharistan, in a town named Marin in the neutral country Rhenish-Braque. You fuck girls as bombs are dropping on your (former) house and home.

The cast is still being formed, but if we ever release it, you’ll most likely see the protagonist: Vincent Fahran, who is (you guessed it!) just a normal boy who’s life gets uprooted when he is sent to fight in a war that he doesn’t really understand, before getting hurt and sent to Marin, some of Marin’s inhabitants, and most importantly, as this is a bishoujo, the romance able girls: Vyra, Julia, Sybil and two currently unnamed heroines. Expect introduction posts for them as they are being fleshed out.

The assembly of the team has gone unbelievably smooth, and we were actually a bunch of writers,  a disproportional amount of musicians, a few artists and a code monkey/team leader right from the inception, and have since then grown some, see the below post for the different team members. However, we are still looking for additional artist, so please contact us if you are interested!

That concludes my first blog post, I hope you will continue to follow us, and hopefully we’ll reach a goal somewhere along the way!

Introduction Edition

 Hello, and welcome to Edition Development Team's blog. We'll be using this blog to record our progress (and hopefully have people track it too!).

Our project was started to pay tribute to Four Leaf Studios. We came together through their game visual novel, Katawa Shoujo.

Amare in Bellum (ah-mah-re in bay-loom) is the story of a young man by the name of Vincent Fahran, drafted into a war and subsequently injured. After recovering, he finds himself in a small refugee town, seemingly isolated from the conflicts surrounding it.

 Thanks for visiting! We'll try and keep this updated as much as possible.
